Former Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel has called for an independent investigation into the alleged irregularities plaguing the NEET-UG 2024 examination. Speaking to reporters during the Congress's nationwide protest at Rajiv Gandhi Chowk, the senior Congress leader accused the BJP-led Centre of being engulfed in a 'paper leak government' scandal.
Baghel pointed out that question papers for about 70 exams have been leaked in the past decade, attributing the issue to incompetent appointees placed in key positions by people of a certain ideology. He alleged that a racket is operating throughout the country, amounting to a scam of thousands of crores of rupees, seriously jeopardizing the future of countless youths. He demanded an inquiry led by a sitting Supreme Court judge.
The former chief minister also called for the annulment of the NEET-UG 2024 examination and sought the dismissal of Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan. Criticizing the silence of newly-elected BJP MPs from Chhattisgarh on the NEET controversy, Baghel said it was crucial for them to address such a severe issue that affects the future of children. Senior party leaders, including former home minister Tamradhwaj Sahu, participated in the protest.
