Congress leader Rahul Gandhi has informed Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M K Stalin that his party is advocating for justice for students affected by NEET, according to a statement released by the state government on Sunday.

In his communication to Stalin, Gandhi revealed that he had met thousands of affected students in the past month, criticizing the Union government and the National Testing Agency for their 'huge failure'. 'Twenty-four lakh students deserve swift justice,' Gandhi stated. He expressed gratitude to Stalin for his support regarding NEET issues and stressed the Congress party's commitment to securing justice, particularly after the NEET-UG results were announced on June 4, 2024.

Gandhi highlighted the apparent deficiencies in the higher education structure exposed by NEET, drawing attention to its impact on marginalized students. Noting his recent address in Parliament, Gandhi emphasized the plight of impoverished students who cannot afford coaching centers, calling for equitable opportunities in state-administered medical colleges. He lauded Tamil Nadu for its strong public sector medical education and public health infrastructure, warning against efforts to weaken it.

In a related move, on June 28, Stalin had written to chief ministers of opposition-ruled states urging them to pass legislative resolutions to call for the abolition of NEET.
