CBSE's Dilemma: Navigating New Board Exam Schedule

Another idea being explored is a semester system that would involve biannual exams. Currently, board exams for Classes 10 and 12 take place in February-March. Consultations are ongoing, and no definitive decision has been reached on implementing the plan to conduct board exams twice a year.

CBSE has explained to the Union education ministry that conducting these exams requires over 150 steps and a minimum of 310 days, making the feasibility of the semester system questionable. The ministry's initial plan was to start the biannual board exams from the 2024-25 academic session but has been postponed by a year.
