Interim reports reveal that the flooding of Rau's IAS Study Circle basement, where three students tragically died, posed significant challenges for rescue operations due to water levels and infrastructural issues. The delay in evacuation efforts raised concerns about bureaucratic laxity in investigating the incident, with possible encroachments and road profile contributing to the flooding.

Interim reports have shed light on the tragic incident at Rau's IAS Study Circle in Old Rajinder Nagar, where three students lost their lives due to basement flooding. The reports highlight the challenges faced in rescue operations, primarily due to equivalent water levels in the basement and the road, complicating the water pumping process.
The Municipal Corporation of Delhi (MCD) found that the basement's biometric gate was rendered non-functional by the water, delaying evacuation. Reports also indicate contributing factors such as road profile and encroachments outside the coaching center. These findings were submitted to Revenue Minister Atishi, who criticized the bureaucracy for its alleged laxity in the investigation.
The incident, first reported at 7:20 pm on July 27, prompted rescue efforts by the Delhi Fire Services and civil defense volunteers. Despite the deployment of motor pumps, the difficult conditions delayed the rescue, with the last body being recovered by 1:30 am on July 28. MCD's further analysis suggested infrastructural and management shortcomings at Rau's IAS Study Circle contributed to the flooding.
