During a discussion at the PTI headquarters, Doval addressed concerns about existing textbooks, stating they are well-researched but should be updated if new facts surface. He cited the period between the Mughal Empire and British rule as an example, questioning the narrative of a millennium-long subjugation.

Doval's remarks come amid debates on changes in NCERT textbooks, with critics accusing the BJP-led government of altering history. He urged for a balanced approach, advocating for the inclusion of content that promotes national pride and cultural heritage, such as yoga and Ayurveda, in educational materials.
