Mohsen Paknezhad Appointed as Iran's New Oil Minister
Mohsen Paknezhad has been nominated as Iran's new oil minister by President Masoud Pezeshkian. He has previously served in various high-level roles within Iran's oil sector, including Deputy Minister for the supervision of hydrocarbon resources and Deputy Director of Integrated Planning at the National Iranian Oil Company.
On Sunday, President Masoud Pezeshkian nominated Mohsen Paknezhad as Iran's new oil minister, an announcement made live on the Student News Network by Iran's parliament speaker.
Paknezhad has a storied career within Iran's oil industry, having served as Deputy Minister of Oil for the supervision of hydrocarbon resources from 2018 to 2021. His earlier roles include a tenure as a board member of the Iranian Central Oil Fields Company from 2000 to 2007, and serving as its Planning Manager from 2005 to 2007. Subsequently, he held the position of Deputy Director of Integrated Planning at the National Iranian Oil Company until 2013, as reported by the Ministry of Oil's Shana news network.
An Electrical Engineering graduate from the University of Tehran, Paknezhad also holds a Master's degree in Industrial Engineering from Amirkabir University of Technology.
