Redefining University Success: Beyond Placements

Delhi Chief Minister Atishi emphasized the importance of evaluating universities based on the job creation potential of their graduates, rather than just their placement records. Speaking at Netaji Subhas University of Technology, she advocated for fostering entrepreneurial skills among youth to tackle unemployment and highlighted success stories from the Business Blaster programme.

Delhi Chief Minister Atishi has called for a shift in how universities are evaluated, arguing that placement records alone do not capture the full impact of higher education. Speaking at the second convocation of Netaji Subhas University of Technology, Atishi emphasized the value of entrepreneurial skills in addressing unemployment.

"The biggest challenge our youths face today is unemployment," Atishi stated, while commending the 81% job placement rate among NSUT graduates. She pressed on, saying universities should also be judged on how effectively they inspire graduates to create job opportunities, which she deemed critical for today's economic landscape.

Notable during her address was the mention of the Delhi government's Business Blaster programme, which supports young entrepreneurs. Delhi Lieutenant Governor V K Saxena also attended the event, highlighting the role of India's youth as a key national asset in his remarks.
