Sydney, Oct 22 – A recent ABC report highlights a troubling surge in peer-on-peer sexual abuse in Australia's primary schools. Data indicates a significant number of incidents have involved young children in 2022 and 2023.

The Australian Child Maltreatment Study reveals an increase in childhood sexual abuse by peers. Particularly alarming is that 18.2% of those aged 16 to 24 reported such experiences, compared to 12.1% among those aged 45 and over.
