Amid rising tensions at North Eastern Hill University, the vice chancellor's residence was vandalized as students protested for his removal alongside two other university officials, according to police reports.
The incident led to police intervention, spearheaded by SP (City) D Ashwaghosh, while an FIR was lodged by Acting Registrar B Rynjah.
Students, led by Research Scholars Forum NEHU president Superior Syngkli, have intensified their call for Prof Shukla's resignation, culminating in a march and an indefinite hunger strike.
