Vice President Jagdeep Dhankhar underscored the supremacy of national interest over personal and political motives while attending the Shri Mata Vaishno Devi University (SMVDU) convocation on Saturday. The event, defined by a sense of nationalism, also celebrated India's advancements under Prime Minister Narendra Modi's leadership.
During the convocation, attended by Lt Governor Manoj Sinha and Education Minister Sakeena Firdous, among others, Dhankhar highlighted the historic significance of the 2019 abrogation of Article 370. This move by the BJP-led government was regarded as pivotal for the union territory of Jammu and Kashmir.
The ceremony at the Matrika Auditorium saw 1,109 students receiving degrees across various disciplines. Notably, dignitaries distributed 26 medals and several prizes, recognizing academic excellence. Lt Governor Sinha welcomed the Vice President at Jammu airport, where he serves as the university's chancellor.
