Controversy Unfolds at KIIT: Suicide Sparks Protests

Senior officials from Odisha's Kalinga Institute of Industrial Technology (KIIT), including its founder Achyuta Samanta, testified before a state government committee on Friday. The inquiry addresses the alleged suicide of a Nepalese student and ensuing attacks on Nepalese students.

Former BJD MP Samanta arrived for his hearing after apologising to the Nepalese students' parents. Congress MLAs have demanded his arrest in response to the incident.

A three-member committee, led by Satyabrata Sahu, is investigating the circumstances surrounding the student's suicide and alleged administrative misconduct. The inquiry seeks to clarify events, focusing on claims of mistreatment against Nepalese students. Two senior officials, Jayanti Nath and Manjusha Pande, are accused of derogatory remarks and summoned for questioning.
