Jadavpur University alumnus Hindol Majumdar appeared in court on Monday after his remand period ended. He's accused of orchestrating an attack on West Bengal Education Minister Bratya Basu on campus in March, despite being in Spain at the time.
Following a lookout notice, Majumdar was apprehended at Delhi airport. Authorities claim he conspired while abroad, likening his alleged involvement to the 2022 American Center attack's mastermind, Aftab Ansari.
Protests erupted as stakeholders from the university rallied for Majumdar's release, condemning the arrest as politically motivated and a threat to free expression.
