Delhi University Appoints New Proctor Ahead of Crucial DUSU Elections

Delhi University has appointed Professor Manoj Kumar Singh as the new proctor, focusing on a smooth and defacement-free 2025-26 DUSU election. Singh, who succeeded Prof Rajni Abbi, aims to strictly follow university rules. The elections are set for September 18, with vote counting on the following day.

Delhi University has swiftly appointed Professor Manoj Kumar Singh as its new proctor, focusing immediately on ensuring smooth and defacement-free Delhi University Students' Union (DUSU) elections ahead of the scheduled date of September 18, 2025.

According to an Executive Council decision dated August 19, Prof Singh, from the Department of Anthropology, was appointed to the role shortly before the crucial elections. Singh promised to conduct the elections peacefully in coordination with student organizations, ensuring no campus defacement.

Prof Singh has been a longstanding member of the proctor's office, serving as deputy proctor since 2013 and becoming joint proctor in 2020. He takes over from Prof Rajni Abbi, now Director of the university's South Campus, committing to running the university with strict adherence to rules and procedures.
