Meghalaya Launches Olympic Values Education with Abhinav Bindra

Meghalaya, in partnership with the Abhinav Bindra Foundation, has launched the Olympic Values Education Programme across state schools. This initiative aims to teach excellence, respect, and friendship through sport while promoting holistic development. The programme aligns with the National Education Policy 2020 and emphasizes inclusivity and cultural relatability.

Meghalaya, known for its vibrant culture and rich history, marked a significant milestone on Tuesday by signing a memorandum of understanding with the Abhinav Bindra Foundation. The agreement will see the launch of the Olympic Values Education Programme (OVEP) in schools statewide, aiming to instill sportsmanship and life skills among the youth.

The initiative, witnessed by Chief Minister Conrad K Sangma and Olympic gold medalist Abhinav Bindra, is hailed as transformative and meaningful. Sangma committed to prioritizing youth development in policymaking, underlining that the initiative will shape young minds not just in sports but also in core values.

Integrating the state's traditional sports, OVEP will focus on inclusivity and engage various community stakeholders. The move is supported by the National Education Policy 2020, aiming to create a culture of physical activity and value-based education in Meghalaya.
