In a decisive move to resolve prolonged leadership uncertainties, Kerala Higher Education Minister R Bindu announced the appointments of Vice Chancellors at two major state technical universities. This comes after prolonged legal and administrative tussles that affected the daily functioning of these institutions.
Bindu emphasized that the appointments at APJ Abdul Kalam Technological University and Kerala University of Digital Sciences were crucial to restoring normalcy and efficiency in the universities' operations. The resolution followed a directive from the Supreme Court, highlighting the significant delays caused by disagreements between the state governor and chief minister.
Amid this resolution, Bindu criticized the proposed Viksit Bharat Shiksha Adhishthan Bill, which she argues encroaches on state university autonomy by imposing potential fines for non-compliance with federal directives. The state plans to launch awareness campaigns to oppose this bill. The timely appointments are expected to address long-standing issues and resume orderly administration within the universities.
