German Chancellor Friedrich Merz will leave Switzerland ahead of schedule on Thursday, skipping the signing ceremony of U.S. President Donald Trump's 'Board of Peace' at the World Economic Forum in Davos. A German government spokesperson confirmed the early departure.
The United States has been notified of this change, the spokesperson said on Wednesday, but emphasized that Germany remains thankful for the invitation to participate in the initiative.
'We are examining this proposal and will respond accordingly in due course,' the spokesperson added, highlighting that Germany is considering its role in the 'Board of Peace.'
