IIT Kharagpur Strengthens Ties with Russian Mining University
IIT Kharagpur has signed an MoU with Saint Petersburg Mining University to promote academic exchanges and joint research. The collaboration aims to enhance expertise in fields such as mining and petroleum engineering, furthering Indo-Russian cooperation in higher education and addressing future energy challenges.

The Indian Institute of Technology Kharagpur has embarked on a strategic partnership with Russia's Empress Catherine II Saint Petersburg Mining University. The collaboration was cemented through the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) during a virtual ceremony.
This new alliance aims to boost academic collaboration by facilitating student and scholar exchanges, as well as faculty exchanges for joint research projects. Additionally, the partnership intends to develop joint academic programs for students and professionals. Key figures including Prof Vladimir Litvinenko and Prof Suman Chakraborty were present to emphasize the significance of this Indo-Russian cooperation.
The endeavor focuses on utilizing the strengths of both institutions in fields like Mining Engineering, Petroleum Engineering, and Artificial Intelligence, particularly in energy and earth sciences. It aims to address energy needs and advance human resource development amid a backdrop of long-standing Indo-Russian science and technology relations.
