Teachers Challenge DU's Revised Curriculum Over Research Component

Teachers at Delhi University, affiliated with the Democratic Teachers' Front, have expressed their concerns over the research component introduced in the fourth year of undergraduate programs. This critique comes in the wake of a university notification stipulating compensation rates for project evaluations.
The letter sent to the vice chancellor highlights the challenges posed by the new curriculum, describing the semester VIII evaluation as setting impractical goals, such as Scopus publications and patents. Teachers argue that the university fails to acknowledge the demands of academic research properly.
Additional issues include inadequate time for student self-study, unrealistic assignment of experts, and financial strains on students. The teachers' collective has called for an urgent assessment of the new curriculum to address these systemic flaws, urging that students deserve a meaningful educational progression.
