In response to the severe heatwave sweeping through Chhattisgarh, the government has accelerated the summer vacation for schools, an announcement made by the state school education department reveals.
Originally scheduled from May 1, the holidays have been brought forward to start on April 20, emphasizing prioritization of children's health during extreme weather conditions where temperatures reach over 40 degrees Celsius, according to the statement released by the department.
Chief Minister Vishnu Deo Sai underscored the decision as a vital step to protect children amidst rising temperatures, though it doesn't apply to the teaching staff. The state's Meteorological Centre forewarned that the heat could intensify, reaching even higher levels in regions like Bilaspur, Raipur, and Durg.
