Boosting Education: PM-SHRI Schools in Jammu and Kashmir Get Rs 243 Crore Outlay
The Centre has allocated Rs 243 crore for PM-SHRI schools in Jammu and Kashmir for fiscal year 2026-27. With Rs 194.53 crore already utilized for civil and related works, the Ministry of Education noted a 10% rise in exam results, pledging continued support for these educational initiatives.

The Centre has approved a significant outlay of Rs 243 crore for PM-SHRI schools in Jammu and Kashmir for the 2026-27 financial year. This was reported according to an official statement released on Thursday.
Of the Rs 200.11 crore allocated for 2025-26, approximately Rs 194.53 crore has already been successfully utilized and released to executing agencies, notably the Public Works Department, primarily for civil works and related activities. The Project Approval Board highlighted substantial academic progress in Jammu and Kashmir, noting a 10% increase in board examination results at secondary and higher secondary levels.
The Ministry of Education confirmed its commitment to sustaining support for further implementation of the scheme. Currently, PM SHRI is active in 396 educational institutions across Jammu and Kashmir, focusing on high and higher secondary levels.
