Nepal's Student Union Ban Sparks Widespread Protests

Students in Kathmandu have staged a protest against the Nepal government's decision to ban student unions in universities. The government claims this move is to prevent educational institutions from becoming political tools. Protesters demand protection of autonomy, student rights, and freedom of association.

Hundreds of students took to the streets of Kathmandu on Friday, protesting against the Nepali government's recent decision to prohibit student unions in universities nationwide.

Prime Minister Balendra Shah's administration revealed a 100-point action plan, which included the controversial ban, arguing that educational institutions should remain politically neutral zones.

Coinciding with the 62nd Students Day, demonstrators from various student groups marched from Tri-Chandra Campus to RR Campus, calling for the protection of university autonomy, student rights, and freedom of association.
