Calls Grow for Extended Admission Deadlines Amidst Exam Delays

The Federation of Self Financing Technical Institutions and Punjab Unaided Colleges Association have requested an extension for admission deadlines for technical and professional courses. Due to delays in entrance exams and counseling, they propose shifting the cut-off date to October 30. This would ease admission processes and reduce pressure on students and institutions.

The Federation of Self Financing Technical Institutions (FSFTI) along with the Punjab Unaided Colleges Association (PUCA) have appealed to regulatory bodies to push back the admission deadline for technical, medical, and allied professional courses, currently set at August 15, to October 30.

Dr. Anshu Kataria, leading FSFTI and PUCA, emphasized the impact of rescheduled entrance exams and counseling processes, such as NEET, which could delay results and subsequent admissions.

Kataria highlighted a Supreme Court precedent that supports uniform timelines for these processes and noted the vast scope of higher education, with over 45,000 colleges and approximately 4.33 crore students in India.
