The Institute of Chartered Accountants of India (ICAI) is taking decisive steps to modernize its curriculum by incorporating artificial intelligence (AI), data analytics, and other cutting-edge subjects. This move comes as the accountancy field continues to evolve with technological and professional changes.
ICAI President Prasanna Kumar D emphasized the necessity of AI in the chartered accountant profession during an interview with PTI. He remarked, "For us, AI is not a subject, but without AI, no chartered accountant can survive." The institute is actively preparing its students for future challenges.
The newly formed Committee for Review of Education and Training (CRET) will spearhead the curriculum overhaul. By December, CRET is expected to complete its review and publicize its recommendations, with changes expected to be implemented by 2028.
