In a significant development, a Delhi court has remanded Shivraj Raghunath Motegaonkar, founder of the Renukai Career Centre, to nine days of CBI custody. The decision, announced by Special CBI judge Ajay Gupta, follows the federal agency's appeal for Motegaonkar's custodial interrogation in connection with a NEET paper leak case.
The CBI claims that Motegaonkar, arrested recently in Latur, played a pivotal role in the distribution of the leaked NEET-UG question paper through his coaching centre. During the search, authorities retrieved a leaked question paper from Motegaonkar's mobile phone, reportedly prior to the exam date.
Further investigations are ongoing to uncover his ties with alleged mastermind Prahlad Vithalrao Kulkarni. Meanwhile, Motegaonkar's counsel argues against the need for custody, emphasizing his educational tenure since 1999. This case has also led to the arrest of educators P V Kulkarni and Manisha Mandhare.
