NSUI Demands Clarity in CBSE Evaluation Practices

The NSUI demonstrated outside CBSE's headquarters, challenging the On-Screen Marking system and demanding transparency in evaluations. Alleging that the system adversely affects students, they called for its suspension and insisted on student-centric reforms to address anxiety and fairness concerns.

The National Students' Union of India (NSUI) organized a protest at the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) headquarters in Patparganj, Delhi, on Saturday. The demonstration was centered around allegations of irregularities in the board's On-Screen Marking (OSM) evaluation system, which students and party activists see as flawed and lacking transparency.

Participants, led by NSUI's national president Vinod Jakhar, voiced concerns that the current marking processes unfairly impact student performance reflection. They emphasize the resulting anxiety among students and parents, urging board officials to ensure that evaluations are conducted with accountability and openness.

The protestors' demands include ending the OSM system, establishing a transparent re-evaluation method, and implementing protections to ensure students' academic and mental well-being. Jakhar criticized the current process as unjust, stirring turmoil and mistrust among students. NSUI warned that without action, protests would expand.

NSUI leaders committed to ongoing advocacy until the CBSE addresses the criticisms and assures a fair evaluation method. They stressed that the grievances of numerous affected students require immediate attention and corrective measures from the board.
