The National Testing Agency (NTA) has offered a retest for over 3,700 candidates of the CUET-UG 2026 exam after a significant technical malfunction disrupted proceedings, leading many students to leave their examination centers prematurely. This retest is an attempt to address the inconvenience and provide an equitable solution.

The disruption occurred during Shift 1 of the exam, prompting the NTA to reschedule the affected students' exams. Although the technical issue was resolved and most candidates completed their tests with additional time, some 3,765 candidates had already left after completing biometric registration. The NTA plans to announce new exam dates soon.

Technical service provider TCS iON is conducting a thorough analysis to understand the cause of the glitch. Meanwhile, the NTA has expressed regret for the disturbance and set up helplines to assist candidates. The CUET-UG exam, a major entrance test for undergraduate admissions in India, has faced operational challenges since its inception, raising concerns about its management.
