Centre Reviews Readiness for NEET UG Re-Examination

Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan has chaired a high-level review meeting to assess preparations for the NEET UG re-examination scheduled for 21 June 2026. The meeting brought together senior officials from the Ministry of Education, State Governments, the National Testing Agency (NTA) and higher education institutions to evaluate readiness and coordination mechanisms for the upcoming examination.
Among those present were Department of School Education and Literacy Secretary Sanjay Kumar, Department of Higher Education Secretary Vineet Joshi and NTA Director General Abhishek Singh. The discussions focused on ensuring that the re-examination is conducted smoothly, fairly and transparently while providing candidates with a secure and stress-free environment.
Focus on Transparency, Security and Student Welfare
Addressing the meeting, Pradhan stressed the need to maintain the highest standards of integrity, transparency and efficiency throughout the examination process.
He directed all concerned authorities to remain fully prepared and vigilant, while ensuring that every necessary measure is in place for the free and fair conduct of the examination.
The Minister announced that officers designated by the Ministry of Education will be deployed across states to coordinate examination-related activities. These officials will report directly to a central command centre headed by the Director General of the NTA.
Pradhan also urged state government nodal officers to ensure that students receive all necessary support, including basic facilities that can help them appear for the examination without unnecessary stress.
School Education Secretary Sanjay Kumar highlighted the importance of candidate welfare, calling for adequate seating arrangements, access to drinking water and other essential facilities at examination centres.
States Assure Full Cooperation for Smooth Conduct
Higher Education Secretary Vineet Joshi described the period leading up to the examination as critical and stressed the importance of timely communication, proactive coordination and strict adherence to prescribed protocols.
NTA Director General Abhishek Singh informed participants that the agency is working closely with district-level coordination committees, district administrations, police departments and intelligence agencies to ensure seamless execution of the examination.
Detailed discussions covered examination preparedness, security arrangements, logistical planning, grievance redressal systems and compliance with examination guidelines.
States and Union Territories were advised to maintain close coordination with all stakeholders to support a transparent and efficient examination process.
The review meeting was conducted in a hybrid format and attended by 222 participants, including senior state and Union Territory officials, vice chancellors, directors of higher educational institutions and nodal officers from centrally funded institutes.
Participants assured the Ministry of their full cooperation and reaffirmed their commitment to ensuring a smooth, secure and hassle-free experience for all candidates appearing for the NEET UG re-examination.
