Narco-Saints Season 2: Will the hit K-Drama return on Netflix in 2023?

Netflix's latest K-drama collection, Narco-Saints Season 2, has taken the world by storm since its release on September 9, 2022. The captivating story based on true events has captivated audiences globally, making it an instant hit. With its similarities to Netflix's beloved series Narcos (2015-2017) and Narcos: Mexico (2018-2021), viewers are eagerly hitting the "play next" button to continue their addiction to the thrilling world of Narco-Saints. Will there be Narco Saints Season 2?

Despite facing its fair share of controversies, this K-drama still managed to capture the top spot on the streamer's Global Chart and become one of the most-watched series to date. It's no surprise that fans are eagerly awaiting the arrival of Narco-Saints Season 2. Narco-Saints (Korean: 수리남; RR: Surinam; lit. Suriname) follows the thrilling tale of an ordinary entrepreneur who must put his life on the line by joining a secret government mission to take down a Korean drug lord operating in Suriname.

When the first season was produced, Netflix did not have any plans for subsequent seasons. Despite the success of Narco-Saints on the screen, Netflix usually takes a while to assess the viewership statistics of a program, including the total number of hours viewed (in millions) and the duration it spends (in days or weeks) among the global top ten rankings, before making a final call on its renewal. Additionally, the streaming service evaluates the projected expenses for the upcoming season.

Given that the K-drama has been commissioned in September, it is challenging to anticipate whether Netflix will produce Narco-Saints Season 2. Although there has been no official statement made thus far, it is plausible to speculate that Season 2 could be released in early 2023, considering that the previous season took almost a year to develop.

Regarding the plot, Narco-Saints appear to have concluded the K-drama with a fitting ending. By aiding the NIS and DEA in the capture of Yo-hwan (played by Hwang Jung-min), the Korean drug lord, Kang In-gu (portrayed by Ha Jung-woo) finally returned home. Six months later, Kang resumed his job as a mechanic in his shop. The leader of the National Intelligence Service's Branch of America, Choi Chang-ho (played by Park Hae-soo), offered Kang two karaoke bars as a reward for his efforts, but Kang declined the offer.

In the event that Narco-Saints Season 2 is produced, fans could potentially witness Kang teaming up with the NIS once more to solve additional cases.
