A total of 201 couples entered wedlock during the 51st mass marriage ceremony held at Sri Kshetra Dharmasthala during Godhuli Muhurtham. In his address, Heggade asked the newlywed couple to lead a harmonious life in perfect unison.

A total of 201 couples entered wedlock during the 51st mass marriage ceremony held at Sri Kshetra Dharmasthala during 'Godhuli Muhurtham'. After offering prayers to Lord Manjunatheshwara, the brides and grooms arrived in a procession to the marriage hall on Wednesday. The 'mangalasutra' was distributed by Dharmasthala dharmadhikari and Rajya Sabha member D Veerendra Heggade, his wife Hemavathi Heggade, chief guest actor Darshan and others. A total of 52 inter-caste pairs, 52 belonging to scheduled caste, nine pairs each belonging to Kuruba community and Veerashaivas, 11 belonging to scheduled tribes got married. There were three pairs from Kerala and one from Andhra Pradesh. In his address, Heggade asked the newlywed couple to lead a harmonious life in perfect unison. Efforts are being made to create an awareness among the people to avoid extravagant spending for engagements, mehendi and marriage functions, he said.
