In an enlightening video interview with Arena Homme+ Korea, Korean actor Song Joong Ki offered an introspective look at his notable roles from "The Innocent Man" to "Vincenzo," while sharing the personal values and experiences that have shaped his career trajectory.

The actor, currently enjoying a break following his latest film "My Name Is Loh Kiwan," revealed a lighter side of his life outside the screen. During his downtime, he indulges in watching baseball, a pastime that brings him joy. "It’s baseball season, and I spend every evening watching the Hanwha Eagles," he shared, his affection for the sport evident in his cheerful demeanor.

Reflecting on his career, Song Joong Ki delved into his role as Kang Ma Ru in the 2012 drama "The Innocent Man." He drew a personal parallel to Ma Ru’s character, noting his own high threshold for tolerance in challenging situations. "I think I endure a lot normally like Ma Ru," he stated. However, he made it clear that his patience has its bounds, especially when confronted with extreme rudeness.

Song also reminisced about his portrayal of Chul Soo in "A Werewolf Boy," another 2012 project that highlighted his ability to embody deeply patient characters. When asked about the longest he could wait for someone, reflecting the loyalty of his character Chul Soo, Song humorously estimated, "I think I could wait about half a day," providing a glimpse into his personal limits and sense of humor.

His role as Yoo Shi Jin in the 2016 drama "Descendants of the Sun" also came up during the discussion, where he noted an interesting observation from fans regarding his speech pattern. "It seems I use the word 'sincerely' a lot unconsciously," he remarked, highlighting how certain aspects of his characters can unintentionally mirror his real-life persona.

The discussion took a reflective turn when talking about his recent experience in the 2021 drama "Vincenzo." Song felt a strong sense of satisfaction from this role, reminiscent of his work in "The Innocent Man." "It was incredibly satisfying, like taking a digestive after a meal. I was reminded a lot of ‘The Innocent Man’ during that time," he explained. This comparison underscores the thematic continuity and emotional depth he brings to his roles.

Throughout the trials of his career, Song emphasized the unwavering support of his family, whom he regards as his foundational support system. Additionally, engaging with fans has played a significant role in how he views his responsibilities as an actor. He recounted a recent interaction with fans at a theater, noting, "last year, I spent time with fans at the theater for the first time in a while, and seeing how much they enjoyed my new work made me realize I need to carry this responsibility with even more diligence."

Song Joong Ki's candid reflections in the interview provide a comprehensive overview of his growth as an actor and the steadfast values that guide him. His ongoing dialogue with his past roles offers fans a deeper understanding of the complexities of his craft and the personal commitment he brings to each project.
