Indian-Origin Man Fatally Shot in Targeted Killing in Canada

Yuvraj Goyal, a 28-year-old Indian-origin man, was shot dead in Surrey, British Columbia, in a suspected targeted killing. Police have arrested and charged four individuals with first-degree murder. Goyal, who had no criminal ties, was on the phone with his mother in India just before the incident.

Authorities in Surrey, British Columbia, are investigating the fatal shooting of 28-year-old Yuvraj Goyal, an Indian-origin man, in what they suspect to be a targeted killing. The Royal Canadian Mounted Police (RCMP) reported that Goyal was found dead on Friday morning when officers responded to a shooting call.

Four suspects -- Manvir Basram, 23, Sahib Basra, 20, Harkirat Jhutty, 23, all of Surrey, and Keilon Francois, 20, of Ontario -- have been arrested and charged with first-degree murder. According to his sister, Charu Singhla, Goyal worked at a car dealership and the family has no knowledge of any connections to organized crime.

The victim’s brother-in-law, Bawandeap, revealed that Goyal was chatting with his mother in India right before he was shot. Police are actively investigating the motive behind the shooting and have asked anyone with relevant information or dash-camera footage to come forward.
