Chris Colfer, internationally renowned for his portrayal of Kurt Hummel in the groundbreaking musical comedy-drama 'Glee', recently revealed to Entertainment Weekly that industry advisors cautioned him against coming out as gay, fearing it would derail his career.

The openly gay high school character he played from 2009 to 2015 initially terrified the actor, who grew up in a conservative environment where being openly gay was fraught with danger. 'When I first read the script, I was terrified,' Colfer shared.

Despite winning a Golden Globe in 2011, Colfer faced internal and external pressures to conceal his true identity. However, a poignant encounter with a young fan helped him embrace his authentic self publicly, believing that being a positive influence was far more significant than any potential career setbacks.
