The National Zoological Park in Delhi’s Pragati Maidan will soon allow visitors to book their tickets up to 15 days in advance through the zoo's website. This initiative will also enable visitors to reschedule their outing and receive refunds on cancellations, an official announced on Monday.

Currently, zoo visitors can only purchase tickets on the same day until 5 pm, when the counters close. Amidst high footfall, the zoo’s director has revealed that transformation plans are underway to address several issues over the coming months.

“To address issues with the payment gateway, an additional gateway will be opened for visitors' convenience,'' said Sanjeev Kumar, director of the National Zoological Park. He mentioned that the forthcoming portal will allow advance bookings, thus enabling visitors to plan their visits ahead of time.

Situated on a historic 176-acre site behind Purana Qila, the Delhi Zoo has been a significant landmark since 1952. According to Kumar, the advance booking feature will also aid management in predicting visitor numbers, facilitating better preparation and organization.

An ongoing transformation plan for the Delhi Zoo aims to enhance its aesthetics and visitor experience, alongside making new arrangements for additional animal species, an official added.
