Lokanandam, a native of Sompeta village in Srikakulam district, had recently returned to Kuwait after partaking in local elections and engagements.

Tragically, he met with an unexpected death the same day he arrived back in Kuwait, a relative reported.

The village of Sompeta was enveloped in sorrow on Friday as news of Lokanandam’s death spread. Relatives and acquaintances gathered at his home to mourn the loss profoundly felt by the community.

Lokanandam’s mother was particularly inconsolable, surrounded by relatives sharing in her grief.

In addition to Lokanandam, two other migrant workers from Andhra Pradesh—M Satyanarayana and M Eshwarudu—also died in the recent fire accident in Kuwait.

The Andhra Pradesh Non-Resident Telugu Society (APNRTS), the nodal agency for NRI and migrant worker affairs, confirmed the identities of the deceased on Thursday.

Lokanandam’s brother-in-law, Santha Rao, recounted that Lokanandam had left for Hyderabad on June 5 as part of his return journey to Kuwait, stayed there for four days, and reached Kuwait on June 11.

Lokanandam was the sole breadwinner of his family, and the villagers of Sompeta have appealed to Union Aviation Minister K Ram Mohan Naidu for help in repatriating his body.

The mortal remains of Lokanandam, Satyanarayana, and Eshwarudu are expected to arrive in New Delhi by Friday afternoon, after which they will be sent to Visakhapatnam and Vijayawada airports for final transit to their respective hometowns.
