The National Mission for Clean Ganga (NMCG) celebrated the International Day of Yoga in remarkable style with its 'Ghat Par Yoga' event at the Yamuna's BSF kayaking camp. This year's theme, 'Yoga for Self and Society,' emphasized the dual benefits of yoga, enhancing personal well-being while fostering social harmony.

Rajeev Mital, Director General of NMCG, marked the significance of the occasion, recalling Prime Minister Narendra Modi's pivotal proposal at the 69th United Nations General Assembly in 2014 to establish International Yoga Day. Mital highlighted yoga as a unique Indian spiritual science that offers both mental and physical health benefits.

The event witnessed participation from approximately 1,000 individuals, including officials, BSF personnel, NGOs, students, and children. Celebrations extended to 139 locations across the Ganga Basin, integrating the 'Yoga for Self and Society' theme. A notable feature was the launch of the Bhuvan Yoga App by the Ministry of AYUSH, developed by ISRO, enriching the yoga experience through enhanced geospatial technology.
