Kumartuli Potters Prepare for Global Durga Puja Celebrations

With Durga Puja just three months away, Kumartuli, the renowned potters’ hub in north Kolkata, is bustling with activity. Artisans are meticulously sculpting idols to meet international demand, ensuring timely delivery for overseas orders.

The festival, scheduled from October 9-13 this year, sees renowned clay modellers like Kaushik Ghosh and Mintu Pal working tirelessly to create bespoke idols. These will be shipped to various countries, including the UK, US, Japan, UAE, Russia, and Singapore.

Artisans are committed to maintaining the traditional 'sabeki' look of Maa Durga while adding unique touches. Through the use of online platforms and detailed signing procedures, these craftsmen are ensuring the global Bengali community gets to celebrate with their reverence intact.
