India is set to host the inaugural World Audio Visual and Entertainment Summit (WAVES) in November, coinciding with the International Film Festival of India in Goa. Information and Broadcasting Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw announced the event, emphasizing the government's commitment to strengthening intellectual property rights within the media and entertainment sector.
Speaking alongside Goa Chief Minister Pramod Sawant, Vaishnaw highlighted the visionary initiative led by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, aimed at positioning India as a key player in the global media landscape. The summit, scheduled for November 20-24, will feature discussions on funding models, policy support, and the industry's structural transformation.
Vaishnaw underscored the government's focus on job creation and talent development in this sector, promising an ecosystem conducive to high-quality content and robust IP protection. Sawant noted that the event would enhance industry collaboration and growth, as India endeavours to attract global investments and promote innovation.
