The seers of Haridwar have praised the Uttarakhand government's decision to implement a law preventing the misuse of names of prominent Himalayan temples such as Kedarnath and Badrinath.

"There can be no alternative to the four dhams, 12 jyotirlingas, and 52 shaktipeeths of Sanatan Hinduism, and so other temples or trusts should not use their names," Baba Hathyogi, a seer, stated after a delegation submitted a memorandum to state officials.

He added that religious names are cultural assets of India, and the Uttarakhand Cabinet’s decision will help preserve cultural identity and rights.
