Amid the clamorous slogans and rhythmic drumbeats of TMC activists at Sunday’s mega rally, a unique figure emerged: Ganesh Gupta, a cyclist championing the cause of a 'green planet.'
Ganesh Gupta, hailing from Burrabazar, adorned his bicycle with posters advocating for a greener earth, the national Tricolor, flowers, plants, and an environmental campaign slogan. 'I am not a TMC worker but a supporter,' he stated, aligning himself with Mamata Banerjee's pro-poor politics.
While highlighting his participation in past rallies, Gupta took this opportunity to spread his message about planting trees and reducing plastic usage. He emphasized using cycling to minimize vehicular pollution and maintain air purity.
Gupta has visited numerous towns within the state, and even ventured into Mumbai and Allahabad by train, spreading his environmental campaign. Adding dynamism to the event, tribal groups from the Jangal Mahal region participated in traditional attire, dancing to drumbeats.
The rally also featured giant balloons with TMC's colors and symbols, adding to the spectacle. Kalipada Maity from Garbeta praised the party leaders' speeches and looked forward to visiting Kolkata's Kalighat temple. Subham Das from North 24 Parganas shared that their group traveled by bus and managed their own food arrangements despite the party's provisions.
