As the world prepares for the 2024 Olympics, Paris Mayor Anne Hidalgo aims to shift the focus beyond the Eiffel Tower, highlighting the city's lifestyle and recent transformations.

Elected in 2014 and re-elected four years ago, Hidalgo has spearheaded projects like creating hundreds of kilometres of bike lanes and planting over 100,000 trees. She recently made headlines by swimming in the Seine, fulfilling her pledge to clean the river for public enjoyment during the Olympics.

The Games are a chance to show a new, modern Paris. President Emmanuel Macron’s team highlights the city’s thriving tech scene, its post-Brexit appeal to bankers, and its vibrant fashion and art culture. The Olympics will kick off with an opening ceremony on the River Seine and conclude on August 11.
