Mahatma Gandhi's Message of Peace Resonates in Tokyo Unveiling
External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar emphasized Mahatma Gandhi's timeless message of peace and non-violence at the unveiling of Gandhi's bust in Tokyo. He highlighted the relevance of Gandhi’s principles in today’s conflict-ridden world and commended the strengthening of India-Japan relations through people-to-people bonds.
External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar underscored the enduring relevance of Mahatma Gandhi's message of peace and non-violence amid global conflicts and polarization. Speaking at the unveiling of Gandhi's bust in Tokyo's Edogawa, Jaishankar emphasized that Gandhi’s wisdom, dating back 80 years, remains pertinent today.
Jaishankar applauded the India-Japan connection, noting the bust's location in a park soon to be named Gandhi Park, close to Tokyo’s Indian community. He praised Mayor Takeshi Saito and other dignitaries for fostering this bond.
He remarked on Gandhi’s influence on India’s independence and subsequent global decolonization, reiterating that the Indian leader's contributions have had long-lasting, worldwide impacts, shaping the present multipolar world order.
