The song, composed by Nusrat Fateh Ali Khan and penned by Javed Akhtar, remains beloved for its poetic and soothing quality. Lisa Ray became synonymous with 'Afreen Afreen', a track that got a revival in 2016 by Rahat Fateh Ali Khan and Momina Mustehsan during Coke Studio's Season 9.

In an exclusive conversation with ANI, Lisa Ray reminisced about her time associated with the song. She revealed that she used to feel irritated when people linked her identity solely to 'Afreen Afreen'. Lisa shared, "It's interesting because today's memory will now replace previous memories. I had traveled far beyond that young girl in the video, and often distanced myself from it." She added that returning to the song through Mishra's show allowed her to reclaim and create new beautiful memories.
