Chandra Kumar Bose, the grandnephew of legendary freedom fighter Subhas Chandra Bose, has issued an appeal to Congress leaders Rahul Gandhi and Mallikarjun Kharge. He urged them to request Prime Minister Narendra Modi to repatriate Netaji's remains from Tokyo's Renkoji temple.

In separate letters addressed to Rahul Gandhi, the Leader of Opposition in the Lok Sabha, and Congress president Mallikarjun Kharge, Bose sought their intervention to persuade the central government on this matter.

He called upon the leaders to impress upon the PM and Foreign Minister S Jaishankar to facilitate the long overdue transfer of Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose's mortal remains from Tokyo to India. Bose had also written to Prime Minister Modi on Sunday, urging that the remains be returned by August 18, 2024, to address this historical issue and dispel any false narratives regarding Netaji.
