Authorities confirmed that a third child succumbed to injuries on Tuesday. The three victims were girls aged six, seven, and nine. The quiet seaside town of Southport and the nation are in deep distress over the horrendous attack, which interior minister Yvette Cooper called 'every parent's worst nightmare.' Cooper urged thorough investigation amid rampant social media speculation about the suspect's identity.

'A name has been shared on social media in connection with the suspect in the incident in Southport. This name is incorrect, and we urge people not to speculate while the investigation is ongoing,' police cautioned.
