In a tragic incident, five Kanwar Yatra pilgrims, including two minors, lost their lives after their vehicle made contact with a high-tension overhead wire in Jharkhand's Latehar district on Thursday morning, according to local police.
The heartbreaking incident, which happened around 3 am in the Tam Tam Tola area under the jurisdiction of Balumath Police Station, also left five others injured.
The group was returning from the Baba Baidyanath temple in Deoghar when their vehicle struck an electricity pole, leading to the fatal contact with the high-tension wire. Chief Minister Hemant Soren has expressed his condolences and assured that medical facilities are being provided to the injured.
