Actor Varun Dhawan, on Thursday, credited directors Raj Nidimoru and Krishna DK for giving him the opportunity to dive into a nuanced character in 'Citadel: Honey Bunny'.

In his streaming debut, Dhawan plays Bunny alongside Samantha Ruth Prabhu's Honey. The story represents the India chapter of Prime Video's global series 'Citadel', starring Priyanka Chopra and Richard Madden. 'Raj & DK are such wonderful directors. I've learned so much from them and it was a rewarding experience being directed by them. People will see a different side of me, one I haven't explored since 'Badlapur'. They challenged me, and I'm thankful for it,' Dhawan remarked at the show's teaser launch event.

The 2015 film 'Badlapur', directed by Sriram Raghavan, was a significant milestone in Dhawan's career, featuring him as a man driven to darkness by loss. Discussing his father's concerns about portraying dark characters, Dhawan mentioned he has learned to switch off. 'My dad, David Dhawan, didn't like the impact 'Badlapur' had on me. But I've matured and can handle it now. He was thrilled about my work with Raj & DK, who he deeply admires,' added Dhawan.

'Citadel: Honey Bunny' is set to release on November 7 on Prime Video, produced by D2R Films and Amazon MGM Studios, with executive production by AGBO, the Russo Brothers' company.
