In a ceremonial display of reverence, government officials in Western Uttar Pradesh showered flower petals on Kanwariyas from helicopters on Friday. This remarkable gesture, orchestrated by the Yogi Adityanath-led administration, extended into its third day as part of their tribute to the devotees.
On Thursday, District Magistrate Deepak Meena and Senior Superintendent of Police Vipin Tada adorned the Kanwariyas with a floral tribute from the skies over Meerut, according to an official statement from the state government. Continuing this homage, Meerut Division Commissioner Selva Kumari J and Inspector General of Police Nachiketa Jha performed a similar act on Friday over Baba Augharnath temple in Meerut and Pura Mahadev temple in Baghpat.
Additionally, the officials undertook a detailed survey of the temple premises and assessed the security measures in place. The Kanwariyas were visibly elated by this aerial homage. The Kanwar Yatra, an annual pilgrimage where devotees carry holy Ganga water to perform 'jalabhishek' on Shivlings, started on July 22 and is set to conclude on August 6.
