The body of an Odisha doctor, Dr. Bishnu Prasad Chinara, who tragically died in a landslide in Kerala's Wayanad district, arrived home on Saturday evening.

Dr. Chinara, along with his wife and two companions, Dr. Swadhi Panda and Sikruti Mohapatra, were in Wayanad celebrating his birthday on July 27. The disaster struck around 2 am on July 29, sweeping them away as they slept in their hotel.

Panda remains missing, while Dr. Chinara's wife and Mohapatra are receiving treatment in a Kerala hospital. The doctor's body was transported to his residence in Cuttack's Housing Board Colony in a special ambulance, where friends and relatives paid their respects. His cremation is expected to take place in Puri.

Revenue and Disaster Management Minister Suresh Pujari noted the logistical challenges in bringing the body back due to the lack of direct flights from Kochi, and confirmed ongoing coordination with Kerala authorities and an Odia SRC official stationed there.
