Helicopter services to Kedarnath resumed Thursday while officials continued repairing the rain-ravaged trek route to the Himalayan temple. The services were reinstated on Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami's orders as soon as the weather cleared.
Besides facilitating pilgrim arrivals, helicopters transported 33 pilgrims from the temple to Shersi and Chardham helipads. Shri Badrinath Kedarnath Temple Committee CEO Yogendra Singh reported that rescue and relief operations have been concluded under the district magistrate's direction.
Essential supplies, including adequate ration, were airlifted to rain-affected areas. Chief Minister Dhami previously announced a 25% discount on helicopter tickets for pilgrims until the damaged trek route, currently being repaired at 29 crucial points, is fully restored.
