Former External Affairs Minister K Natwar Singh passed away on Saturday night at the age of 93 following a prolonged illness, according to family sources.
Singh breathed his last at Medanta Hospital in Gurugram near Delhi, where he had been under treatment for the past few weeks. Born in 1931 in Bharatpur, Rajasthan, Singh had a distinguished career in diplomacy and politics, serving as India's External Affairs Minister from 2004-05 and earning the Padma Bhushan in 1984.
During his career, Singh also served as ambassador to Pakistan and worked closely with Prime Minister Indira Gandhi from 1966 to 1971. He was a prolific author, known for works like 'The Legacy of Nehru: A Memorial Tribute' and 'My China Diary 1956-88'. His autobiography, 'One Life is Not Enough,' reflects his remarkable journey. His last rites are planned in Delhi, with family members arriving from Rajasthan.
